From Bowl to Bottle

I'll say it until I'm blue in the face, Scooter is my boy. I love both of my cats so much, but Scooty and I definitely have a stronger bond than I have with Leila. This being said, Scooter can drive me absolutely batty.

Something that I have reached the limit for is the water situation. He loves to dip his furry little paws in the bowl and splash the water around. I know this is completely normal, but I just feel like he does it more than is actually normal.

Today I was thinking about ways I could lessen the amount of mess my little bundle of joy makes every time he needs a sip of hydration. I can't even tell you how I thought of it, but I wondered, "Could a water bottle work?"

I Googled it and though I didn't find much info, what I found was contradictory. A veterinarian said that cats would never take to it so figure something else out, yet other pet owners say that their own cats drink from water bottles!

I've decided that I have nothing to lose so here is my new setup:

I know you're probably thinking "YOU KEEP TWO CATS IN A CAGE?!" Well, the answer is, no, I don't. This is my dog, Roxie's, old crate that we never use because she is a princess and sleeps on my mom's bed. I dug it out from the attic to create an eating space because I couldn't figure out how to set up the water bottle without it! I kind of like it, the plastic bottom will keep the rug from getting ruined. I just wish I could take the door off and not have to deal with it.

Anyway, I set up the bottle and I introduced it to each of the kitties. Neither of them understood it. I did close them in there (one at a time) to see if they would notice it on their own, but that didn't work either.

A few minutes ago, Scooter went in and sniffed it by himself which made me more optimistic! I did just  read to rub some tuna on the spout to get them to lick it. I certainly have to try this because tuna is Scooter and Leila's favorite!

I will post their (hopefully) progression with the new Hydration Station!

Happy Purring!
